UPTAC conducts and organize the seat allotment process for professional courses in the state. The UPTAC Counselling 2025 Seat Allotment is a well-defined process by which eligible candidates are provided with seats in various colleges depending on their merit rank, category, and preferences. This process ensures a justified and transparent admissions process in which applicants are able to secure seats in any of the several rounds of counseling, choice filling, and confirmation processes. The allotment of seats allotment is most important since it determines which applicant receives admission to what course and institute after consideration of merits, preference, and availability on a careful basis.
Round-Wise Seat Allotment Process – UPTAC Counselling 2025
UPTAC counselling process is done in a sequence of formal counselling rounds, each with its respective objectives, rules, and procedures. A step-by-step detail of how the seat allotment is done across rounds follows:
Round 1: First Seat Allotment Round
- Primary Participation Round: This is the first official seat allotment round for every candidate who has registered and whose documents have been verified. Candidates who have completed filling in their course and college preferences are eligible for seat allocation.
- Allotment based on Rank & Preferences: Seats are exclusively allocated on the candidate’s merit rank, category, and filled preferences. The higher the rank, the higher the probability of securing the first-choice college.
- Payment and Seat Acceptance Options: Once seat is allotted to a candidate then he/she are required to pay seat acceptance fee (Rs. 20,000 for General/OBC, Rs. 12,000 for SC/ST). They may further opt to Freeze (accept), Float (wait for better seat), or Slide (look for better option within same institute).
- Option to Proceed Further: Those who choose the Float or Slide option are permitted to move on to the next round without forfeiting their existing allotment, and Freeze preserves their selection for future participation.
Round 2: Upgradation and Withdrawal Chance
- Candidates who had chosen Float or Slide in Round 1, or candidates not allotted any seat, are eligible to participate in Round 2. However, candidates who withdrew their seat after Round 1 can also take part.
- Suitable candidates may get new seats according to any fresh vacant seats and their current preference list.
- Candidates who are allocated a new seat in Round 2 are required to accept the seat by paying the seat acceptance fees if they haven’t paid in previous round.
- Round 2 is the last round in which the candidates are allowed to withdraw their admitted seat without any penalty or disqualification for subsequent rounds.
Round 3: Last Upgradation and Reporting Opportunity
- It is the final opportunity for candidates who preferred Float or Slide in previous rounds to be given a superior allotment.
- There is no option to upgrade after Round 3. Every seat which has been automatically allotted gets frozen, and the candidate needs to join the institute in order to be admitted.
- Seat withdrawal is prohibited after Round 3. Non-reporting or non-acceptance of the seat by the candidates will result in loss of allotment.
Round 4: Mandatory Physical Reporting Round
- All seats allotted in this round are automatically frozen, and no Float or Slide option is allowed. Candidates cannot participate in any future rounds once they have accepted a seat and paid seat acceptance fees in Round 4.
- For confirmation candidates must needs to physically report to their allotted institutes for admission, submit original documents, and complete fee payment as per institute norms.
- Candidates who fail to report are considered as having forfeited the seat, and their admission gets cancelled.
Round 5: Internal Sliding in Institutions
- Round 5 is for candidates who have reported to the respective allotted institution and wish to slide within the same college level at branch/course level.
- The students must opt-in online for internal sliding. Fresh choice filling is not allowed in this round.
- This is carried out on merit and availability basis, where candidates may be promoted to a higher-preference course within the same institute.
- This round does not provide for inter-institute movement – only internal changes possible within the same college.
Round 6: Special Round for Vacant Seats
- Those students who have not participated in any earlier rounds, or whose seats were not already allotted earlier, can register fresh for the special round.
- Seats are allotted based on merit rank and seat vacancy following Round 5, consisting of surrendered and vacant seats.
- Seated candidates in this round must physically report to the assigned college for the process of admission confirmation. Non-reporting cancels the admission.
- It is the last and final round of seat allotment under UPTAC. Candidates must report on time and produce documents.
This seat allotment process ensures fair and transparent allocation of seats by evaluating all candidates through a centralized online platform. Each round of counselling follows a systematic process from registration, document verification, choice filling, to result declaration and final reporting to the allotted institute.
