What Is Opening Rank and Closing Rank?
Opening Rank is the JEE Main rank of the first candidate allotted a seat in a specific college-branch-category combination during a round. A lower number means the competition started from a very strong rank.
Closing Rank is the JEE Main rank of the last candidate who received a seat in that combination. If your rank falls on or before (numerically lower than or equal to) the closing rank of a college-branch-category, you are within the eligible range for that combination.
A lower rank number always indicates stronger performance. A closing rank of 20,000 is more competitive than a closing rank of 1,20,000.
